February 25, 2022: This is a heavy time.

I feel tremendous sorrow when I think about the country of Ukraine, where 3 of my siblings were born, and where I had the joy of seeing people come to faith in Christ on trips I took there.

As you see Russian owned media repeating the lie that Putin is not invading Ukraine but rather seeking to “Denazi “ Ukraine (from its Jewish president) I hope you are angry at lying and how brazen liars can be.

I hope you apply that same righteous anger to the vile despot in Canada who froze bank accounts of peaceful protesters, saying he faced a national emergency because some people didn’t want to be forced to take a vaccine that doesn’t work to stop COVID from spreading.

I hope you remember the liars who said the US didn’t fund gain of function research in Wuhan. The liars who said that human to human transmission was impossible. The liars who pretend today that lockdowns and mask mandates worked.

Propaganda plays on emotions, mostly fear, but also anger, to make people stop thinking and accept lies.

If you refuse to accept lies, you will increasingly be opposed. Race is not real, and gender is based on biological realities. Those facts are increasingly unpopular, but they are still facts.

Most politicians in DC are liars. That places them firmly in the evil camp. We do not have to accept that. We should expect that if someone says something false they will admit fault and repent. Those who tell the truth 60 percent of the time, are liars, so are those who tell the truth 80 percent of the time.

Mistakes and lies are different, but liars are so common amongst elected office holders that it is surprising to encounter someone who isn’t one. Look for the people who can admit they were wrong. They are the politicians who can grow in wisdom and humility and speak truth in love. The forked tongue liars should be treated the way Jesus taught us.

John 8:44

44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Many of the lies being told today are linked to power and linked to violence. The murderous father of lies wants us to think lying is no big deal. Resist him!

Christians should never make excuses for lying politicians no matter what party they are in. In fact, liars who claim to represent the party we line up with most should bother us more than liars from a side we already think is far down the wrong road.

Proverbs 6:16-19 ESV

There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.
