I am thankful for the 22 year old hero who was legally carrying at the mall south of Indianapolis who stopped a mass shooting from a man carrying a rifle who planned to kill many more.

Young men are often portrayed as a problem, but this young man used his courage and his willingness to risk his life in defense of others to protect them.

I hope his story becomes widely known, and I hope more people understand the tremendous asset that trained and courageous people can be in keeping us all safer. Tennessee has over 650k concealed carry permit holders. It is unfortunate that so many mentally ill known wolves are armed and have no institution to be inside for long term care.

The mall shooting could have been so much deadlier. Thanks to a good guy with a gun, it was not.

This follows the good woman with a gun in Charleston West Virginia who stopped a felon with an AR 15 who was shooting at a party.

I understand their hesitation to be named. I also wish they were the ones who were being made famous. I would be happy to contribute to a gofundme.

The Uvalde failures and cowards will have to live with the shame for the rest of their lives that they did not do what they were trained for and paid to do.

The citizens who are willing to step up and be prepared to lay down their lives to protect others are heroes, and should be lauded as such (stories in comments).
